Open the GIF in Quicktime and save as MOV (Apparently it works with other formats too, you’ll have to try it out). Additionally, in5 allows you to customize the look and feel of your webpage (e.g., you can make it look like a flipbook or a scrolling website) and add custom interactions that are not possible with a PDF.
PDF is traditionally not a standard format for animations. The best you can do is save it as an “interactive” PDF (or whatever Adobe is calling it) and embed flash movies inside the PDF. And the way to do this is select the Adobe PDF (interactive) option from InDesign’s Export options.
Open the Buttons and forms panel ( Window > Interactive > Buttons and forms ). In the panel, choose Button from the Type menu to create a button. You can then set an action (what happens when the button is clicked or tapped) by clicking the plus (+), as well as appearance. Export as PDF

You can add interactivity such as buttons, links, forms, animation, video and audio, and more to your InDesign documents. To show a series of panels for adding and editing interactivity, choose Digital Publishing from the workspace switcher above the document or choose Window > Workspace > Digital Publishing to open the necessary panels.
